In History

They have always been a symbol of purity and innocence. The ancient Greeks believed that diamonds represented the tears of the weeping gods while the Romans believed that diamonds were part of the outer rings of the stars that had fallen to earth.

The "Bleu de France" also known as "Hope Diamond" was bought by Louis XIV in 1668 and entrusted to the court jeweler, Jean Pittan. It was stolen in September 1792 from the Hôtel du Garde Meuble, Place de la Concorde. It is currently exhibited at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington and is ranked behind the Mona Lisa as one of the most visited art objects in the world.
